Red Jacket Mine

“Holiday Pathos” single – out December 3!

Season’s greetings!

Hope everyone’s settling into their holiday traditions with as little anxiety as possible. To that end, we’re very proud to announce the release of two original yuletide-themed numbers to help ease the transition – “Holiday Pathos” b/w “I’ve Forgotten More Lately” – December 3 on Fin Records. (Purchase here.)

The A-side examines a bustling holiday scene through a world-weary lens, in the tradition of cynical holiday favorites like Graham Parker’s “Christmas is for Mugs,” and the B-side is an all-too-true (or so we’re told) tale of holiday overindulgence, set to a rowdy barroom shuffle. Both tracks were produced by Johnny Sangster, and feature the talents of Jim Sangster (Young Fresh Fellows, the Tripwires) on bass guitar, lending them a swing heretofore unheard on a Red Jacket Mine recording.

The single will be released in CD and digital formats, and all net proceeds will benefit SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital), a wonderful charity founded by Brandy & Pete Nordstrom to raise money for uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The annual event raised over $175,000 last year, and this year’s installment takes place on December 14 at Showbox at the Market.

Can’t wait for you all to hear the songs – in the meantime, hang in there!
