Hope the summer-to-fall transition has been pleasant, wherever you are. We’re busy writing songs for some more recording this fall, but we’re sneaking out to play a couple of shows this weekend in Washington:
Friday, September 27 at the High Dive in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. The Trouble Starts open the show, and our pals the Glass Notes headline, with RJM manning the coveted middle slot. That’s right, folks: the fabled catbird seat! Hope to see all of our Seattle pals there.
Saturday, September 28 at The Vogue Lounge in lovely Chelan, Washington. This is our first trip out to the Vogue, but we’ve heard very good things. Extra-long set, good times guaranteed. Road trip for sunshine!
Lots more shows coming up in October, so please keep it tuned to our Shows page for details!
PS – Check out this video of us performing Big Star’s immortal “Ballad of El Goodo” at the Axe & Fiddle in Cottage Grove earlier this month! Thanks to our buddy Craig Leve for capturing this!
The Portland show is sponsored by community radio station KZME, and we’ll be appearing in-studio for a live performance and interview on Friday at 12pm Pacific. Stream along from your desk or car at kzme.fm!
We’ll also be stopping by the KWVA Eugene studios before our Cottage Grove show, taking over the airwaves on Saturday from 1-2pm Pacifc – we’ll play some of our favorite records, chat with our pal Craig Leve, and play a few songs! We’re hoping for a cross between Flo & Eddie by the Fireside and this:
Tune in at 88.1FM in the Eugene area, or stream worldwide at kwvaradio.org to witness the chaos in real-time!
Seattle, we haven’t forgotten you: we’ll also be performing next Thursday, September 12 at our beloved Sunset Tavern, with our good pals the Tripwires and amazing NYC soul-rollers the JayVons (aka 4/5 of the Reigning Sound)! Very excited about this one!
Lots more coming up this fall – keep an eye on the Shows page for details. See you out there!
We’ve got a special preview our new single “NyQuil & Wine,” out August 13 on Fin Records! This ‘singing postcard’ features photos by the wonderful Anna Hoychuk…check it out, and please share it with your friends!
The A-side is a re-imagined cover of a tune by our Fin labelmates Davidson Hart Kingsbery…but suffice to say we took some liberties! Check out their lovely original here:
And while we’re spreading the love around, feast your eyes on the magnificent cover art by Mr. Shawn Wolfe!
The critically-acclaimed documentary Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me opens at Seattle’s Grand Illusion Cinema this weekend, and we’re honored to be taking part in the event. We’ll perform a set of Big Star songs immediately after the 8pm showings on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
Our good friends Paul Hiraga (Downpilot) and Jeff Brown (Half Rushmore) will graciously lend their talents (on vocals and bass, respectively). Friday night’s set will focus on the darker, more atmospheric Third material, while Saturday’s set will feature a mix of the more up-tempo pop gems from the first two albums. We can’t promise that we’ll play your favorite, but we can promise it will be good!
Ángel Carmona has been spinning our glammy stomper “Engineer” on his RNE3 show Hoy Empieza Todo! Check out the July 9 episode below…”Engineer” is around the 1:30 mark, sandwiched between the very saucy company of Blondie and Gary Glitter!
Hoy empieza todo con Ángel Carmona Verano – 09/07/13
Hope everyone’s enjoying their summer! We’ve been in the studio working on some new tracks, but we’re taking a break for a handful of very cool shows this month.
First, we’re playing the West Seattle Summerfest on Saturday, July 13 at 2:40pm. This annual event is always one of the highlights of the summer, and this year’s killer lineup includes the Young Fresh Fellows, Mark Pickerel & his Praying Hands, and the Mono Men! Come party with us in the street!
