Lincoln recently chatted with Luigi at the West Seattle Funblog about music-making and flaming fiddles, among other things. Read the interview, and come see Lincoln this Saturday, August 14 at West Seattle neighborhood haunt Shadowland. Lincoln plays from 10pm to midnight, all by his lonesome – expect choice covers and unreleased tunes galore.

Also, this just in: mark your calendars for Monday, September 20, as Lincoln and Patrick have just nailed down an opening slot for power-pop guru Jason Falkner at The Triple Door. Stoked!

august 4 at NEUMOS with langhorne slim!

We just returned from a very successful trip to the wilds of eastern Oregon and Idaho, but we ain’t resting on our laurels for long: this Wednesday, August 4, Patrick and Lincoln will take the stage at NEUMOS to warm things up for NYC troubadour Langhorne Slim. Locals Palmer Electric (led by ex-Lashes guitarist Eric Howk) are also on the bill.

Tickets are $12 in advance and available via eTix.com. Patrick and Lincoln open the show at 9pm sharp.

eastbound and down

We hit the road tomorrow for three-date run through Eastern Oregon & Idaho. If you or your friends live in or around Pendleton, Boise, or Sun Valley, please spread the word and come say hi!

Tomorrow night (Thursday, July 29), we make our debut appearance at Pendleton, Oregon’s Great Pacific Coffee & Wine Bar, joined by our good pal from Boise, Thomas Paul. Pendleton has long been a layover point for the Holy Van, and we’re excited to finally kick up some dust on the Great Pacific stage. It’ll be a goddamn rodeo!

On Friday, July 30, we return to the friendly, spacious environs of the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City, Idaho. This time around, our buddy Thomas headlines the show with his band, and local up-and-comers New Transit open the show. RJM plays the coveted middle slot at 10pm. (PS – Check out Lincoln’s podcast interview with Amy Atkins of the Boise Weekly!)

We wrap up our trip on Saturday, July 31 with a free show at Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey, Idaho. We’ve heard a lot of good things about this place and are excited to check it out. (Listen to KSKI 103.7FM around 4pm Mountain Time on Friday for an interview with yours truly.)

We’d like to take this opportunity to welcome bassist Matthew Cunningham to our ranks! Matthew is a hell of a musician, and we can’t wait for you to hear his contributions to RJM classics old and new.

Our friends in Oregon and Idaho will get the first opportunity to witness the rebirth of Red Jacket Mine when we hit the road next weekend (see the Shows page for details)…our Seattle pals will have to wait a little bit longer. But we promise it’ll be worth it!

On Tuesday, June 8 at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, Patrick and I are privileged to share the stage with two of our favorite songwriters: our good friend Ken Stringfellow (The Posies/Big Star/The Disciplines) and the fabulous Ms. Rebecca Gates (ex-Spinanes).

I’ll be playing Red Jacket Mine tunes old and new, intermingled with Ken & Rebecca’s gems, and Patrick will accompany us all on pedal steel. Expect spontaneous collaboration and surprises aplenty.

Hello, friends.

As you surely know, all things must pass, and it’s our duty to inform you that our good friend Ryan Chapman will no longer be playing bass in Red Jacket Mine. The split is entirely amicable, and we wish Ryan the best of luck in his future musical endeavors. (Keep an ear tuned to Rhubarb Jackson.) Immense thanks to our friend Brian Saunders, who’s helping us hold down the low end during this transition.

Not ones to waste any time, we’re very excited to be making our debut at one of Seattle’s premier rock clubs, Neumos (925 E. Pike Street on Capitol Hill) this Tuesday, May 4, opening for Austin, TX roots-rockers Reckless Kelly (Yep Roc Records). This is a rare all-ages (bar w/ ID) show for Red Jacket Mine, so bring your kid brother!

Tickets are available online via eTix, and doors open at 8pm, with RJM taking the stage at 8:30. We’ve been itching to play Neumos for many years, so we hope you all can celebrate with us!

Thanks to all our friends and incredibly-talented guests for an amazing month at the Hard Rock Cafe. The residency was one of the most challenging, fun things we’ve ever done as a band, and we appreciate your support immensely! Best of luck to the kind folks at the Hard Rock…thanks for making us feel welcome.

We’ve got a trio of shows coming up that our South Seattle friends might enjoy. First up, we’re making our first trip to the wilds of Renton (land of Patrick’s birth) tonight, Friday, April 2 for a show at A Terrible Beauty Irish Pub with our buddies Nathan Wade & the Dark Pioneers. The buzz is strong on this place, so we’re expecting a good time.

Next Friday, April 9, we’ll play Slim’s Last Chance (5606 1st Avenue South in Georgetown) with our friend Toby’s band, Lost Dogma. We haven’t played any rowdy biker joints/chili shacks lately, so this show should be big fun!

Finally, on Thursday, April 15, Lincoln will play a solo set at The Mix in Georgetown, opening for our friends Jones Family Fortune. Expect new tunes and all manner of surprises.

Tuesdays in March at the Hard Rock Cafe!

We’re very proud to announce that we’ll be the very first artist-in-residence at Seattle’s brand-new Hard Rock Cafe (116 Pike Street, right across from Pike Place Market). Every Tuesday in March (starting March 9), we’ll take the Hard Rock stage with special guests and lots of surprises in store!

Shows will be early (7:30-10pm) and cheap ($5), with $1 from each ticket going toward the charity Musicians on Call. The folks at Hard Rock have created a beautiful performance space, and we can’t wait for you to see it!

We were all shocked and devastated to learn of the sudden passing of our hero Alex Chilton. There’s no single person who’s done more to shape my musical life, and this band would not exist if it weren’t for his towering influence. Our sincerest condolences are extended to our friend and collaborator Ken Stringfellow and all of Alex’s friends and family.

We’ll do our best to pay tribute this Saturday, March 20 at the Sunset Tavern. It’s an early show (7-9pm), with our good friend from Boise, Thomas Paul. Cover is $6. Thomas has hosted us many times in Boise, and we’re looking forward to returning the favor — join us in welcoming him to our fair city.

For our friends outside Seattle, we’ll be broadcasting our set on SyncLive at 8pm PST. Tune in and celebrate Alex with us.
