We’re delighted to be opening for one of our favorite bands – Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express – on Wednesday, February 22 at the Tractor Tavern. As luck would have it, our first 7″ single on Fin Records, “Listen Up (If the World is Going to Hell),” is coming out that very same week, so we’re planning a hearty celebration. Mark your calendars! You’ve all been very patient while we’ve gotten a new batch of tunes together, and we sincerely appreciate it. Our first in a series of 7″ singles for Fin Records – “Listen Up (If the World is Going to Hell)” – won’t be out until February, but in the meantime, we’d like to reward your loyalty with a brand-new track from our summer sessions with Johnny Sangster, a farewell to the particularly unsavory southeast Missouri town of Poplar Bluff:

We spent this past weekend at Avast! Recording Studio with our friend Johnny Sangster, and emerged with basic tracks for five new songs, committed to gloriously-antiquated two-inch tape:

After a lengthy break from the studio, we’re excited to hit Avast! Recording this weekend with esteemed producer Johnny Sangster. We intend to cut five of the latest-and-greatest jams and get them from our hands to your ears in short order, so brace yourselves for impact.

For those who haven’t caught an RJM show this year, prepare to be surprised! The new songs are taut, energetic, and quite a departure from the expansive sounds of yore. We’ve replaced the five-minute atmospheric jams with lean, mean soul/pop machines, and we can’t wait for you to hear them.

For what it’s worth, we’re having more fun than ever, so hopefully that joy will make it onto the tape. With Johnny’s expert assistance (and the rock-solid tandem of Messrs. Andy Salzman & Matt Cunningham laying down the phat beats), I’m confident it will.

It’s a glorious thing when summertime (finally) hits Seattle, and it’s right on time – the annual West Seattle Summer Fest is this weekend! Red Jacket Mine is excited to finally take part in this great summertime tradition, helping to kick things off on Friday, July 8 with a 2pm set.

Friday’s lineup is one for the ages, with sets by our rock brethren STAG and many other great bands to follow (including a long-awaited reunion by the legendary Fastbacks). So arrive early, camp out in the beer garden, and prepare to be thoroughly rocked.

This is our last show before we hit the studio later this month with the esteemed Mr. Johnny Sangster (The Tripwires, Cobirds Unite, 1 million other great bands), so come out and get a preview of this fall’s hits-to-be! We’ve cooked up a couple of surprise covers for the occasion as well.
